Beginner's TrainingRunning is the ideal sport for anyone who wants to become fit and healthy. There are almost no costs apart from a good quality pair of shoes and of course membership of a running club! The benefits of running include weight loss (running is one of the best calorie burning exercises) and mental and phyical health. At Running Forever Running Club we run regular training plans for beginner and returning runners. Beginners sessions assume no running experience whatsoever. We start you off with a combination of running and walking and gradually over a number of weeks we progress first to pure running and then to a set distance, building up your strength and stamina. Our next beginner's session starts on Wednesday 19th November. If you can't make it on this date then join us later. The training plan is designed to allow the occasional missed session and it will be easy enough to catch up. This beginner's session will take runners up to a distance of 3 miles continuous running and is designed to enable beginner runners to take part in the training plan for the Taunton Half Marathon, which begins in early Janauary. There is no obligation to train for the half marathon of course. The beauty of running is that you can do as much or as little as you want. The training plan for the next beginner's session is below. Routes will be added as links as they become available.
This is a flexible schedule and can be adapted according to the needs of the running group. Note that weeks 6 and 7 run on Tuesday rather than Wednesday since the Wednesdays of these weeks are Christmas and New Year's eve respectively. |

As in previous years we will be running a training program to take beginners and more experienced runners and train them to run the Taunton half marathon next year. The program details will be released in a few weeks.

Running Forever's latest beginner's group starts this week. If you want to get some pre-Christmas training in or just fancy getting fit join our beginner's group. Absolutely no experience needed.
