Weekly Round-up 27 August

Sixteen members of Running Forever braved the bank holiday weekend traffic and the warm weather to take part in races around the South-West. The largest turnout was at the Battle of Sedgemoor 10k in Langport where Emma Kiernan was first home in an excellent time of 42:23 followed by Lisa Denson, Richard Mackrory, Rob Williams, Becky Dingle, Peter Stretton and Val Perigo.

Duncan Gordon, Alison Wasey and Kirsti Nelson headed for the old Severn Bridge which was closed for the half marathon. They crossed the bridge twice, but reported hills both ways!

Carl Moppatt, Helen Moffat and Lara Bolduc sensibly went to the seaside to compete in the Jurassic Coast 10k along the coast path at Budleigh Salterton.

Most impressive performances of the weekend came from Yvonne Loat and Claire Allison who took part in White Star Running events at East Farm in deepest Dorset. Claire started with a half marathon, was joined by Yvonne for a 10k run on Saturday and they both went on to complete eight laps in the Frolic race on Sunday - a total of 49 miles in two days. Hopefully, they kept suitably hydrated.

Finally, Christopher Baker went a shorter distance to compete in the Pawlett Plod 5k organised by Burnham on Sea Harriers.

The club had seven parkrun tourists this week at such diverse locations as Wimbledon, Slough, Eastleigh, Seaton and Burnham, while sixteen more took part locally at Longrun Meadow.
