Weekly Round-up 26th December

With very few events on over the Christmas period, only Peter Stretton managed to add to his medal collection with a PB run at the Round the Lakes 10K on Boxing Day. Finishing in 56.08, Peter took a full 2 minutes off his previous best time at this Poole Running Club event. Well done Peter!

However, this doesn’t mean that the honed athletes of Running Forever have spent the Festive Season on the sofa sipping cider and stuffing mince pies into their gobs. Oh no, they’ve been out playing with their clubmates.

The Club held its annual tinsel run on Wednesday 20th December and nearly 100 tinsel and antler clad runners set off together from Belvedere Car Park before splitting into their usual groups after a mile.

On Saturday, the Trail Running Group held their annual mince pie and mulled wine run in the Blackdown Hills. Club Chairman Peter Hall led 17 members plus Bertie the Spaniel on a 14-mile run, calling in at his house for the traditional refreshments on the way. It was a very social event and the trail running group is open to all members who like their runs muddy and hilly or who'd like to give it a try.

Plenty of members took time off Christmas preparations for a Saturday parkrun with tourists in Brighton, Burnham and Melbourne Australia (have a sunny Christmas Emma Kiernan) as well as three who went to Exmouth for their inaugural parkrun. Thirty stayed closer to home and joined in the fancy dress fun at Longrun Meadow.

On Christmas Day, twenty-four RFRC members took time off from opening their presents to take part in the parkrun at Longrun Meadow. It was a perfect way to start the day, and justify that second helping of turkey.
