Weekly Round-up 25 March

Finally a weekend of decent weather! This had the honed athletes of Running Forever rubbing their hands in glee, ironing their club vests and travelling far and wide in search of medal opportunities.

Damon Butler and Malcolm Hutchings travelled to Shropshire to take part in the Ironbridge Half, both completing it in 2.20. The iconic bridge is currently shrouded in scaffolding and undergoing renovation after years of heavy traffic which of course is completely coincidental …
Three members went off to the Capital for the inaugural London Landmarks Half which promised 13.1 miles of entertainment and built-in sightseeing. Trevor Stow recorded a time of 1.49, Marina Tomsett and Helen Phillips took time to meet Pearly Queens and a few Chelsea Pensioners along the way before crossing the line in 2.20.

Not travelling quite so far, Will Hamilton (1.34), Ray Tutton (1.37) and Lucy Spring (2.13 and a PB) really enjoyed the Yeovil Half Marathon.

Ben Timpson finished in 15th place in the Butleigh 10K with a time of 48.36.

Val Perigo was back in Cheshire for the Poynton 10K, finishing in exactly 60 minutes.

We love a race with a comedy name so well done to Keith Thompson for giving us the opportunity to talk about the Devonshire Dumpling Marathon which is organised by the LDWA. Keith tackled his dumpling in 5.15 with no mention of being in a stew on the way although he did veg out afterwards.

Gavin Clegg took part in the Eastleigh Relay in Hampshire.

Now exiled over the border, Ian Elliott was racing in the Scottish national road relay championships for his new club. He’s already taking to the local customs and was spotted rehydrating with Irn Bru. He’ll be breakfasting on haggis next!

This weekend’s parkrun tourists made their way to, Minehead, Killerton, Wyre, Burnham and Exmouth. Nineteen members took the local option at Longrun Meadow with PBs for Darren Purchase and Luke Thorne.
