Weekly Round Up 13th May 2018

The sun was out and so were the Running Forever members, out and about showing off their new red and white it in places far and wide … even as far as Dorset!

It was another White Star Running weekend so a small contingent set off for the Rushmore Estate. Andy Burgess took part in the Ox 50 Ultra completing in 10.22. Bev Collins and Rob Murr did 4 laps of the Frolic to hit marathon distance in 5.11 and 6.34 respectively. Marathon Machine Claire Allison did 5 laps for her first official Ultra in 12.08. On Sunday, it was the Ox Half which saw Jamie Hill and Duncan Gordon finish in 2.48 with Kirsti Nelson and Ali Wasey taking in the scenery to collect what looked like an amazing medal in 3.31.

Five members travelled to Bideford for the their popular 10K event. First home was Philip Osborne in 46.42, not far behind was Goff Welchman in a 52.39 PB (has he mentioned his PB yet?). Lara Bolduc finished in 55.54 with Cathie Welchman crossing the line in 67 minutes and Pat Pike in 72 minutes. Goff’s PB is a bit special as it marks the first time he’s run faster with his new hip than with his original hip. Maybe I need a new hip?

The big event this weekend was the Bristol 10K which saw 30 members take part. Finishing times for members ranged from 40 minutes to 78 minutes which just shows the range of abilities which we encompass within this inclusive Club. Well done everyone, sorry it has to be just a list of names and times, please feel free to add your own stories of glory below. Many Runners One Club.

This weekend’s parkrun tourists went to Killerton. Thirty one took on the course at Longrun Meadow.

As I write this Peter Hall and Martin Webb are still on course to finish the epic Northern Traverse Race which is 190 miles (no, I haven't added and extra digit) of coast to coast running from St Bees to Robin Hood Bay. They started on Saturday morning and are now over half way there. More on this one later ...
